These are the day-to-day services that help clients stay safe, nourished, and comfortable in their own homes.

Personal Care

As needs change with age or disability, the things that were once effortless can become genuinely difficult. Personal care from Asmart Home Care provides compassionate, hands-on assistance with daily personal tasks — always delivered with patience, respect, and full attention to each client’s privacy and dignity.

Personal care is one of the most meaningful services we provide, because it directly touches a person’s sense of self-worth and confidence.

Who This Helps

Seniors and adults with physical limitations, recovery from illness or surgery, or age-related changes that make self-care more challenging.

What It Includes

  • Assistance with bathing and personal hygiene
  • Grooming support (hair care, skin care, oral care)
  • Help with dressing and undressing
  • Nail care (cleaning and filing)
  • Assistance with bathroom and toileting
  • Monitoring for comfort and safety during care tasks
Important: Personal care services are non-medical. Asmart caregivers do not diagnose, treat, or perform clinical nursing tasks. Care is delivered in full compliance with Georgia non-medical home care guidelines.

Home Helpers

A clean, organized, well-stocked home is central to safety and quality of life. Our Home Helper services keep living spaces comfortable, manageable, and welcoming — so clients can focus their energy on the things and people that matter most.

Home helpers often work alongside personal care support or as a standalone service. Case managers frequently request this service to help clients maintain a safe and stable home environment.

Who This Helps

Seniors who may struggle with household tasks due to mobility limitations, fatigue, or health conditions. Also beneficial for individuals returning home after a hospitalization or procedure.

What It Includes

  • Light housekeeping (sweeping, dusting, tidying)
  • Laundry, folding, and putting away clothes
  • Making and changing beds and linens
  • Organizing closets and living spaces
  • Taking out trash and recyclables
  • Grocery shopping and errand assistance
  • Picking up prescriptions
  • Escorting to appointments and events

Meal Preparation

Good nutrition is foundational to health, energy, and wellbeing. Our caregivers prepare nourishing home-cooked meals in each client’s own kitchen — taking into account personal preferences, cultural food traditions, and any dietary considerations discussed with the family or care team.

Meal preparation may also include planning future meals, coordinating grocery shopping, and ensuring clients have easy-to-access snacks and beverages throughout the day.

Who This Helps

Seniors or individuals with limited mobility who may struggle to prepare meals safely. Also beneficial for clients with dietary restrictions or for families who want to ensure their loved one is eating well.

What It Includes

  • Planning and preparing nutritious meals
  • Accommodating food preferences and cultural traditions
  • Supporting general dietary preferences noted by family (not clinical nutrition management)
  • Grocery coordination and shopping assistance
  • Preparing meals ahead for later in the day
  • Kitchen cleanup after meals
  • Encouraging adequate hydration throughout the day
Please note: Asmart caregivers support general dietary preferences as communicated by clients and families. Clinical nutrition management or therapeutic diets should be coordinated through a licensed dietitian or healthcare provider.
Caregiver gently reminding a client about their medication schedule at home

Medication Reminders

Staying on schedule with medications can be genuinely challenging — especially for clients managing multiple prescriptions. Our caregivers provide friendly, consistent reminders to help clients remember when it is time to take their medications as prescribed by their physician.

This service may seem simple, but it can have a real impact on health outcomes. Missed doses are a leading cause of preventable complications, and a caring reminder can make a significant difference.

Who This Helps

Seniors or individuals managing complex medication schedules who benefit from a consistent daily reminder system. Also helpful for families who want assurance that their loved one is following prescribed routines.

What It Includes

  • Friendly prompts at scheduled medication times
  • Notifying the client when it is time to take their medications
  • Communicating concerns about missed doses to family or case managers
Important distinction: Asmart caregivers provide medication reminders only — not medication administration. We do not handle, prepare, pour, or administer medications. If medication administration is needed, please speak with your physician or case manager about licensed nursing services.
Caregiver providing gentle mobility assistance to help a client move safely at home

Mobility Support

Moving safely around the home is something many of us take for granted — but for seniors and individuals with mobility challenges, it can be one of the greatest risk factors for falls and injury. Our caregivers provide steady, patient support with movement and transfers to help clients navigate their home with greater confidence.

Families often request mobility support as part of a broader care plan that also includes personal care and companion services.

Who This Helps

Seniors with balance concerns, individuals recovering from surgery or illness, and clients using canes, walkers, or wheelchairs who benefit from a supportive presence during movement.

What It Includes

  • Safe transfers to and from bed, chair, toilet, and car
  • Walking assistance throughout the home
  • Support with canes, walkers, and wheelchairs
  • Repositioning for comfort and circulation
  • Fall prevention awareness and environmental safety observation
Important distinction: Asmart caregivers provide non-medical mobility support. This is not physical therapy. Physical therapy is a licensed medical service requiring a physician referral and licensed therapist. Contact your physician or case manager if physical or occupational therapy is needed.

Category 2 of 3

Specialized Care

Services designed for clients with specific conditions or unique care circumstances — delivered with extra patience, training, and attentiveness.

Companion Care & Companion Sitters

Social connection is not a luxury — it is essential to health and quality of life. Isolation and loneliness are among the leading contributors to decline in older adults. Companion care pairs clients with a caring, attentive presence who is there to listen, engage, and simply be with them.

This service is often requested by families who notice their loved one spending most of their time alone, or by case managers supporting clients whose primary need is social engagement rather than physical care.

Who This Helps

Seniors experiencing social isolation, clients whose families live at a distance, and individuals whose daily routine would benefit from regular companionship and social interaction.

What It Includes

  • Meaningful conversation and active listening
  • Reading together or enjoying shared interests
  • Playing games and other stimulating activities
  • Accompanying clients to appointments, walks, and outings
  • Attending community events and religious services
  • Light transportation and escort to favorite restaurants or shops
  • Emotional support and friendly presence throughout the day

Companion Care vs. Personal Care

Companion care focuses on social and emotional support rather than physical assistance with hygiene and daily living tasks. Many clients receive both. Contact us and we will help you determine which combination makes sense. See our Resources page for more guidance.

Caregiver & Family Support

Supporting the people who provide care every day — because a caregiver who is rested and informed can give so much more.

Respite Care

Family caregivers do extraordinary work every day. But caring for a loved one without a break can lead to exhaustion, burnout, and diminished quality of care. Respite care gives primary caregivers the relief they need — planned, short-term support from a trained Asmart caregiver so families can rest, take care of other responsibilities, or simply have time for themselves.

Respite care is good for everyone in the family. When caregivers are rested, care is better. When families feel supported, the whole dynamic improves.

Who This Helps

Family members who serve as primary caregivers for a loved one, who need temporary relief to rest, travel, attend appointments, or address other responsibilities. Also supports individuals in waiver programs with a respite care benefit.

What It Includes

  • Short-term planned relief from caregiving duties
  • Same level of compassionate care the client receives from family
  • Flexible scheduling for planned or periodic respite needs
  • Full communication with the family before and after each visit
Respite care may be available as a covered benefit under ICWP, CCSP, NOW, and COMP waiver programs. Contact your case manager to confirm whether respite care is authorized in your plan.

Family & Provider Communication

Great care doesn’t just happen between a caregiver and client — it is supported by clear, consistent communication with the people who care most about the client’s wellbeing. Asmart maintains ongoing communication with family members and case managers to ensure everyone stays informed.

We know that when families feel in the loop, they trust the process. And when providers are kept informed, care coordination improves.

What This Means for Families

  • Regular updates on how care is progressing
  • Prompt notification if any concerns arise during visits
  • Open line of communication to adjust care plans as needs change

What This Means for Case Managers & Providers

  • Consistent documentation and updates per waiver requirements
  • Participation in care conferences and planning meetings as appropriate
  • Prompt response to provider inquiries
  • Named point of contact for all provider communication

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do caregivers administer medications?
No. Asmart caregivers provide medication reminders only — prompting clients to take their medications at scheduled times. They do not handle, prepare, administer, or dispense medications. If medication administration is part of your care plan, please speak with your physician or case manager about licensed nursing services.
Is mobility support the same as physical therapy?
No. Mobility support provided by Asmart caregivers is non-medical. It includes walking assistance, safe transfers, and helping clients move around their home safely. Physical therapy is a licensed medical service that requires a physician order and a licensed physical therapist. Contact your physician if physical therapy is recommended as part of your care.
What is the difference between companion care and personal care?
Companion care focuses on social engagement, emotional support, and meaningful activities. Personal care involves hands-on assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, hygiene, and similar daily living tasks. Many clients receive both as part of a combined care plan. Not sure what you need? Call us at (770) 489-9242 and we will help you figure it out.
What is the difference between ICWP/CCSP and NOW/COMP programs?
ICWP (Independent Care Waiver Program) and CCSP (Community Care Services Program) primarily serve elderly and physically disabled adults needing in-home support. NOW (New Options Waiver) and COMP (Comprehensive Supports Waiver) serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and focus on community integration and skill-building. Eligibility is determined by Georgia Medicaid / DCH, not by our agency.
